Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno joined the virtual launch of 80,000 Merah Putih Urban Village Cooperatives (KKMP) across Indonesia by President Prabowo from Klaten, Central Java, on Monday (7/21). He attended the event from Blok M Hub in Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

"We've issued 267 KKMP business permits with legal status ,"

Rano also took the opportunity to review the operations of KKMP Melawai located at the venue.

All Urban Villages Granted Legal Status Decrees for Merah Putih Cooperatives

"Alhamdulillah, Jakarta is ready. We've issued 267 KKMP business permits with legal status," he stated.

According to him, KKMP Melawai outlet is an example of an active cooperative with real members from the local community. It operates retail units offering basic commodities, such as LPG and groceries through partnerships with regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) and retail networks.

Besides, KKMP Melawai also manages a logistics unit that distributes goods directly from producers to consumers.

In terms of operations, KKMP Melawai has implemented digital services, including cashless payment via QRIS, e-registration, and digital transaction recording.

"We hope KKMP can grow into professional, transparent cooperatives, that make a real impact in strengthening local economy at urban village level," he emphasized.

Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, added that all urban village KKMPs in Jakarta will not only obtain legal status decrees (SK), but also Business Identification Numbers (NIB).

"In practice, each KKMP at the urban village level will gradually begin operations," she mentioned.

Ratu ensured that her side will provide support and guidance to each KKMP to strengthen the role of urban village heads as supervisors.

Moreover, in the initial phase, all KKMPs in Jakarta will focus on building retail units selling daily necessities, similar to KKMP Melawai.

In the future, Ratu expressed plans to expand into logistics by exploring collaborations with PT POS Indonesia and other marketplaces.

"We will gradually operate KKMPs in other urban villages. Our target is to have 267 KKMPs operational within three months," she asserted.
